FAQ

Interested, but still have questions? Feel free to reach out and contact me. I’d love to hear from you.

How do I schedule an appointment? And then what happens?

You can request a free 15 minute consultation through the “Contact” button, or by giving me a call. The consult will help each of us determine whether meeting together is a good fit (based on your needs, my experience and our personalities). If we determine to move forward with services, we’ll set up a meeting for your initial assessment. Here, we further explore your concerns and continue to determine our fit.

Appointments are generally scheduled for up to 1 hour. Your initial assessment may take up to 90 minutes.

How long will I be in therapy?

To be honest, I’m not sure. Every person’s experience is a little different. What I do know: we will discuss your progress and continued concerns along the way to determine next steps. Sometimes, clients begin their work on a weekly basis, but after a few months, may shift to every other week or monthly.

How much does this cost, and do you accept insurance?

Currently, I am self-pay only. I do not accept insurance; however, I can offer a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I do accept FSA and HSA funds. My current rate is $125 for one hour of mental health therapy.

Where are you located?

The Bright Sprout Therapy office is located at 1100 N 9th Street in Lafayette, IN. There is no receptionist present, so please contact me via phone or email to schedule a time to meet.

What’s the cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. If less notice is given, there is an associated fee. You will receive more information about policies and procedures in your intake packet.

My kid is starting therapy. Do I have to stay with them the whole time?

It depends. Each family situation is different. Many kids feel comfortable meeting one-on-one with me, but some situations require that parents/guardians are in every session. While you may not participate in every session, I do ask that you remain on the premises in the event of an emergency.

What kinds of therapy do you use?

Every client is a little different, so I tailor my approach to your needs. However, I often draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psycho-education, solution-focused therapy, existential therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), a psychodynamic approach, play therapy and attachment theories.

What can I expect in my appointments?

We will schedule to meet for an hour. Most of the time, we start with what’s important to you, or what has happened since we last met. We focus on self-awareness and understanding, as well as problem-solving as appropriate. With kids, I do a mix of play and talking.
